In recognition for his outstanding contributions to the Indian Film industry the British Academy of Film and Television Arts is holding an entire weekend in celebration of Big B! June 16 ad 17th will be everything Bachchan with screenings, a Q&A session, and evenings dedicated to showcasing Bachchan’s career.

Amitabh Bachchan is one of the biggest stars of Bollywood, with a movie career that has lasted over 30 years and is still going strong. He played the “angry young man” character to perfection in his movies in the seventies, and throughout his career he has performed a range of roles encompassing comedy and drama. Bachchan has made over 160 movies with many of them being classics of Bollywood including: Sholay, Don, Amar Akbar Anthony and Kabhi Kabhie. His career has gotten even hotter in the last few years with his tour de force performance in Black and his slightly off-beat character in Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna . Recently he has won critical praise for both movies released just last week, Shootout at Lokhandwala and Cheeni Kum. For his work, Bachchan has garnered international fame, has won many awards, and honors.

The weekend entitled Screen Icons: Amitabh Bachchan is another celebration of this exceptional actor’s career in film. And we heartily agree with BAFTA for honoring this amazing icon.
