This year, the BBC Asian Network is going bigger than ever with its Navratri celebrations with the release of a specially produced track to mark this auspicious date in the Hindu calendar.
The track, called ‘9 Nights’ has been produced by JKeyz of Raas Masters and features various artists including iamGujjuBhai, Rita Morar, Swaati, Vidhi Metha, Aiesha India, DJ Adee and RJ Roshan and Nachos and will be available as a free download.
Jay Pitrola of Raas Masters said, “The track was the idea of the Alpa Pandya show on the Asian Network. It mixes traditional Gujarati garba beats and lyrics with R’N’B, dance and a mix of rapping from GujjuBhai to the beautiful vocals of various singers.”
Mark Strippel, Head of Programmes for the Asian Network says, “This is a special moment for the Asian Network – it’s the first time we’ve had a track specially produced for us. And what better time to do it than to help celebrate this important date in the cultural calendar.”
The track will be broadcast exclusively on Bobby Friction’s show (5.30pm – 9pm) on Friday 4 October and available to download for free from the Asian Network website.
Other highlights to celebrate the festival on the Asian Network will include Alpa’s nine night diary, a Navratri music session plus news on how the festivities are being marked across the UK and in India.
