BBC Asian Network has launched an exciting competition as part of the network’s efforts to help raise money for BBC Children In Need.
The competition will give one lucky listener the chance to win a money-can’t-buy prize – a cooking experience with Atul Kochhar, chef patron at the Michelin-starred Benares in Mayfair.
The network is looking for budding cooks across the country to submit a recipe with Michelin star potential!
Presenter Tommy Sandhu, who helped launch the competition on his morning show (weekdays 6am-10am), said: “How great is this? Imagine that one thing you’ve eaten all your life … that dish that tastes so good but you can’t buy it anywhere because you invented it! Or your mum or dad did! I’m so happy to be helping BBC Children in Need and celebrating our listeners’ secret cooking skills! We get sent so many food pictures all the time, this is our way of giving those humble chefs the recognition they deserve and doing our bit for charity.”
Khaliq Meer, Editor Asian Network, said: “If there’s one thing we know about BBC Asian Network listeners, it’s their love of great food and creating brilliantly flavoured food with everyday ingredients. We’re thrilled Atul Kochhar is joining our BBC Children In Need competition and we can’t to savour the winning entry!”
The recipe should be:
-A savoury vegetarian dish, that can be served as a starter or main dish.
-It must contain a maximum of three vegetables that must be used as the main ingredients for the dish (excluding base ingredients onion, ginger, garlic and tomato).
-The dish should take no longer than two hours to prepare from scratch.
Listeners wanting to enter must declare that the dish they are submitting is their own creation or credit a recipe they may have adapted and developed.
The closing date for entries is 9am on Wednesday 29 October. Only one entry per person is allowed and full details on how to enter are available on bbc.co.uk/asiannetwork.
Listeners will be able to make a donation of their choice when they submit their recipe and the money raised will go to causes across the UK to help youngsters from all communities.
