Yes, it’s true – your eyes are definitely not deceiving you, Kareena Kapoor AKA Bebo, was the original and first choice for legendary director Sanjay Leela Bhansali, (who brought you films such as Khamoshi: The Musical, Devdas, and Black), rather than second choice, Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan. The Heroine actress was originally going to play the role of the fiery Gujarati girl, Nandini in Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, but dropped out due to Kareena’s study commitments abroad.
About her favourite director Kapoor states, “He (Bhansali) and I have wanted to work together for a long time now. And yes, he had offered me Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, but at that time I was too young. Plus, I was also going abroad for higher studies. So I couldn’t take up that offer. Then Bajirao Mastani came up, but unfortunately that also didn’t work out. But look at my luck, eventually I had to be the Sanjay Leela Bhansali heroine.”
Kareena’s drive and ambition to become the ‘SLB heroine’ has finally paid off, as the Jab We Met girl is working with Sanjay Leela Bhansali as the director in her new film (which is supposedly titled Ram Leela) opposite newbie Ranveer Singh.
About the new film Bhansali states matter-of-factly, “It’s not titled Ram Leela. Let’s call it my new film with Kareena and Ranveer Singh. It’s a full-on masala movie and is in the Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam kind of space. I am going to have a blast.”
Whatever the film is titled, we can’t wait to see how Kareena and Ranveer look together – especially since Ranveer is a huge fan of Bebo (remember that KWK episode where he declared he was a huge fan of hers?).
