Shankar, Ehsaan and Loy have a new gig – they are creating the soundtrack for the Punjabi film Akaal. Written and directed by Punjabi cinema star Gippy Grewal, who also plays the lead role in the movie, it also stars Nimrat Khaira, Gurpreet Ghuggi, and Nikitin Dheer. Akaal, produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions, is releasing in Punjabi and Hindi worldwide on 10th April 2025.
This is Shankar Mahadevan, Ehsaan Noorani, and Loy Mendonsa, aka Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, SEL’s first musical foray into a full-on Punjabi soundtrack, and all three composers are thrilled with the opportunity to create in this oeuvre. The music we have heard so far is outstanding!
