Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s Bhaag Milkha Bhaag has received raving reviews from critics and the audience, and its success is on-going. The film has been selected for screening at the second edition of the Ladakh International Film Festival (LIFF) next month at Leh in Jammu and Kashmir. The other film is The Frontier Gandhi: Badshah Khan, a Torch for Peace, which is about freedom fighter Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan.
Melwyn Willaims Chirayath, Founder of LIFF, said to the Times of India in a statement,” We are very pleased to have such renowned filmmakers like Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra and Teri McLuhan (Frontier Gandhi…) at our film festival.”
This festival is being held between 13th and 15th September and will also be paying a tribute to Yash Chopra and Rituparno Ghosh. Another important aspect is this festival includes a retrospection of writer-filmmaker Gulzar, curated by Vishal Bhardwaj.
A special panel discussion on the topic ‘Role of Women in Cinema – On and Off Screen, Road Ahead’ will also be conducted by personalities like Aparna Sen, Meghna Gulzar, Rekha Bhardwaj, Hannah Fisher, Deepti Naval and Teri McLuhan. A flagship campaign called Campaign Red that focuses on women will also take place.
