One never knows how much truth there is in the behind-the-scenes rumors that get leaked in Bollywood but link-ups and feuds are two of the standby stories for any gossip writers worth their salt. An enduring rumor these past couple of years is the cold war between Vidya Balan and Bipasha Basu, who were recently spotted hugging it out at Ajay Devgn’s celebratory party for All the Best: Fun Begins, perhaps signaling a normalizing of professional relations between them.
The frosty relations between the two actresses were allegedly tied to some incidents on the sets of Salaam-e-Ishq, where Vidya was paired opposite Bipasha’s real-life boyfriend John Abraham. Not only were the illicit lovebirds rumored to have stayed behind in Goa after the crew packed up, but an eyewitness on set during the filming of an intimate scene reported that the kissing went on even after the directer yelled cut.
Of course, it is not the first nor the last time that John Abraham was linked-up with his leading ladies. Rumors have long surrounded the former model and his name has been tied to Mallika Sherawat, Katrina Kaif, and most recently jewelery designer Paulomi Sanghavi, among others. Much like Salman Khan, John has never been interested in marriage, going as far as to tell the Times of India, “Let not marriage come and spoil everything.” So, perhaps Bipasha has felt it more necessary to make sure that there is nothing substantial behind the rumors.
For her part, Vidya has always spoken well of Bipasha, telling the IANS, “From the little I know of Bipasha Basu, she’s a no-nonsense honest person. She won’t take such rubbish lying down.” But Bipasha is slow to forgive and famously caused a fuss when she refused to appear with Vidya and Shahid Kapoor on an episode of Jo Jeeta Wohi Superstar in 2008.
If the cold war is over, perhaps this means that John might be back in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Chenab Gandhi, which he was rumored to have dropped because of Bipasha’s worries over Vidya Balan.
