Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s masterpiece Black was loved by audiences all over India and America back in 2005 but now it is making its way even further in the world. The film has premiered in Korea and at number 3 no less!

The film opened on 180 screens on August 28th, which is one the biggest releases ever for a Hindi film! A statement from Yash Raj said, “Yash Raj Films continues with its endeavor to open new doors for Indian Cinema in non-traditional territories. After wining numerous accolades since its release on 4 February 2005, Black, the critically acclaimed movie by Sanjay Leela Bhansali starring Rani Mukherjee and Amitabh Bachchan and distributed overseas by Yash Raj Films adds yet another feather to its cap.

Black, the heartwarming story of Michelle McNally who saw what other lesser mortals could not, was released in Korea in possibly what is the biggest Hindi movie release in the country. Black had the highest opening among new releases ahead of Hollywood releases. The movie debuted at 3rd spot while Take-Off and Haeundae took the first 2 spots given they are Korean blockbusters with massive budget and marketing.

The path breaking opening of Black in Korea was an event that gathered a lot of attention from general audiences and industry insiders alike-truly an eye opener for Hindi cinema.”
