The Muslim Bollywood stars have cumulatively decided that in observance of Eid Al Adha (Bakr-eid) they would all wear a black band that would show their solidarity in condemning the recent terror attacks in Mumbai. The likes of Aamir Khan, Farhan Akhtar, Shabana Azmi, Zayed Khan, Imtiaz Ali, Iqbal Khan, Dia Mirza and Naseerudin Shah have all taken the oath and additionally all said that not only the Muslim but the Indian community should do the same. They have all jointly clarified that there is no terror in Islam and clearly condemn the attacks in unison.
However, one celebrity has decided to stay out of the band wearing group; singer Adnan Sami. His reason? He does not think that candle vigils or the wearing of a band has any effect. He was quoted as saying in an interview to a leading online site, “Pardon me for saying this, but I think lighting of candles, etc is all humbug.” And thus, he will not be adorning the black band like the rest of the industry.
