Looks like Delhi Couture Week is going to be all about Bollywood Glamour. After Anil Kapoor walked the ramp for designer Anamika Khanna, Kangana Ranaut turned back to her model ways on day three of Pearls Infrastructure Delhi Couture Week as she walked the catwalk for designer J. J. Valaya.
Dressed in a red bridal lehenga-choli, the 23-year-old actress looked every inch the perfect bride-to-be as she modeled Valaya’s design from his collection named Alika, a collection inspired by the fictitious love story of a courtesan.”After JJ dressed me up for the show, I looked at myself in the mirror and told him, ‘You are going to design my wedding outfit,” said Kangana.
“His designs are so special and there is so much detailing, it is something you feel like leaving for your grandchildren. If a modern Mughal-e-Azam is made, Anarkali should wear what I am wearing today,” she added.
Sporting a fuller figure, Ranaut was asked about her recent weight gain to which she responded, “When I came into Bollywood I was one of the thinnest actresses. Now when everyone is turning size zero, I thought of putting on weight.”
Valaya’s Alika collection featured a range of clothes from skirts, lehengas, sarees and jackets for both men and women in white, gold, black, red and pink. Heavy embroidery work and Swarovski embellishments on fabrics like jersey, dupion, georgette and fine velvets also were a key feature. The glamour quotient was provided by jewellery by Giantti.
