Legendary comedian Deven Verma has passed away at the age of 77. The actor died at his home in Pune on Tuesday morning and was reportedly caused by a cardiac arrest and kidney failure. Mr Verma was known for his comic roles in Bollywood films such as Chori Mera Kaam (1975), Angoor (1982), Andaz Apna Apna (1994), as well as Dil To Pagal Hai (1997). Mr Verma is considered to have made a vital contribution to the film industry and this is evident by the fact that he has won the Filmfare Best Comedian Award on three occasions.
Many actors and filmmakers from the industry have paid tribute to Mr Verma and have praised him for his unique style of acting. Legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan tweeted the following as a mark of respect. “Deven Verma .. friend, co artist, producer and one that brought smiles on the faces of millions .. no more ! Prayers & condolences. Similarly, Riteish Deshmukh also posted the following on Twitter.“Deven Verma – incredible actor, comic excellence second to none. Thank you for making my childhood so memorable. Will miss you sir- RIP.”
