Free IIFA Concert with Bollywood Singer and 50 performers at Celebration Square
(Tuesday, June 7th – Mississauga) On Friday June 24th, the new state of the art Celebration Square venue will have it’s first major production with a special officially-sanctioned IIFA concert. Presented by the City of Mississauga and produced by FatLabs, this original production entitled Bollywood Monster Mash-Up features over 50 singers, dancers and musicians. Throughout the evening, you’ll hear popular songs spanning the black & white era of Indian Cinema to the modern hits of Bollywood. But you’ll hear them in ways you wouldn’t expect.
“From electronic remixes to rock remakes to symphonic renditions, this is a show that has never been done before. It’s great to have international talent straight from Bollywood integrated in a show with our homegrown talent,” says music composer and producer Vikas Kohli of FatLabs.
Bollywood in Our Backyard
She has sung massive hits such as “Zara Zara Touch Me” and “Khwab Dekhe Jhoote Moothe” from the film Race and “Anjaana Anjaani” from the film Anjaana Anjaani Ki Kahani. Her songs have been picturized in Bollywood films with Katrina Kaif and Priyanka Chopra. Now Bollywood playback singer Monali Thakur is coming from India to perform her hit songs from these films with a live band.
Bollywood Rock Symphony
Listening to a full rock band performing the Bollywood hits from movies such as Disco Dancer, Khalnayak and Laawaris would be good fun. But why stop there when you can also have a string ensemble led by Toronto Symphony Orchestra violinist James Wallenberg? Come see a musical performance that has never been seen before when South Asian singer jsin rocks the stage with his brilliant band by serving up a dish of Bollywood hits, popular western songs and his own original tunes with Kiran Morarji on tabla.
Bollywood Bollywood Revolution
What would it be like if the legendary singers of Bollywood film had Pentium processors? You’ll find out when French-Canadian electronic artist The Alphabet Backwards works his magic on classic songs by Kishore Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bosle by throwing them into an original high-energy dance set. But before you think it’s all gone electro, he’ll also be joined on stage by South Indian Classical violinist Subhadra Vijaykumar and mridangam player Sriram Suryanarayan for a bold and unique performance that pushes the boundaries of dance music.
Dance With Your Dholi
Amazing dancers are as much a part of the Bollywood film industry as the amazing musicians. And contrary to what some people think: more is better. Witness the spectacle that is the 15-member Divine Heritage Artistry dance troupe along with the Dhol Circle as they pound the drums and stomp the stage.
But don’t think that’s the end of the good times. The concert will also feature the colourful and cool live abstractions of VJ Daisy and some more surprises. Stay tuned and bring your dancing shoes…
