The fourth day proved a monster hit for Bollywood stars as they walked the ramp in many guises. Deepika Padukone, Sushmita Sen, Amrita Rao, Malaika Arora Khan and showstopper Urvashi Sharma in an eye-catching figure-hugging pleated golden gown all did their best to enlighten new collections from India’s star designers.

Mandira Wirk’s collection Humble Luxe emphasised the easy glamour mode of delicious wraparound skirts and stunning gowns. “The colours are very girly, very flirtish and very lady-like as Mandira would say,” explained Malaika Arora Khan who walked for her, “When she asked what I would like to wear as a showstopper, I said, a long big gown would be nicer. Essentially the style, the silhouettes are all part of her Summer 2010 Spring Summer collection.”

Amrita Rao, Simone Singh and Urvashi Sharma all paraded for Swapnil Shinde’s glamour-packed show.

Deepika Padukone lit up the runway for Gauri and Nainika in a flared black-and-white silk evening gown with a huge silk rose shoulder motif. “Whenever people ask me about my fashion sense or what I like wearing, I have always said that I like very simple, classic and elegant styles,” Deepika commented, “I think that’s what their clothes are. You might see a different range every time they do a fashion week but the basic look and inspiration has never changed. I have always been a huge fans of theirs.”

Sushmita Sen wore bridal wear for Vikram Phadnis. “The good thing about this outfit and the entire Vikram Phadnis collection is that the Indian, ethnic yet contemporary has been mixed beautifully,” Sushmita said, “He has done some fabulous work. I was watching throughout. There are things that I can pick up and wear immediately.”

The fashion week ends today with top designer Tarun Tahiliani presenting the grand finale.
