In the 5th edition of Boss Dialogues, noted entertainment journalist Indu Mirani caught up with filmmaker Shekhar Kapur on a variety of topics ranging from movies, social media, his next offering ‘Paani’ as well as a time travel into the journey of ‘Mr India’.

Starting the evening discussing his passion for movies, he said he equated it with falling in love. “‘If you ask me why do I make films? It’s the same as asking why do we fall in love?” Proclaimed flirtatious by reputation, the prolific director indulged the audience with wit and charm. Professing he isn’t a victim of extravagance, his confessed to his only luxury being his liberty to travel as and when he wished like.

Referring to the wave driven by social media and the diminishing attention spans of the younger generation, he said that we can no longer use the phrase ’15 minutes of fame’ as it has been reduced to merely ’15 seconds of fame’ owing to the velocity of information social media throws every millisecond.

The filmmaker at his inimitable best chatted fervently about getting his actors to perform his vision, the iconic character ‘Mogambo’, life before movies, his film legacy – from Masoom to Mr. India to Bandit Queen and more.
