Akshay Kumar can now cheer aloud. His ‘Holiday’ is now well on course to enter the 100 crore club, what with around 68 crore coming in the first week itself. What makes this A.R. Murugadoss directed film special is the fact that it has been well accepted by the audience with some good to very good appreciation coming in, hence also resulting in repeat viewing. One of the rare films to do well across A, B and C centers with multiplexes as well as single screen audience giving it a nod of approval, ‘Holiday’ is all set to be a good box office success of the year.

For Akshay, this is great news indeed as after ‘Rowdy Rathore’ and ‘Housefull 2’, this is going to be his third 100 crore earner. The film has sustained beyond a good opening and that must be music to his ears. As for Sonakshi Sinha, she has now yet another biggie to her name and is all set to lead from the top yet again, when it comes to a leading lady with the highest number of 100 crore successes. Murugadoss, who inaugurated the 100 crore club with ‘Ghajini’ would indeed be smiling from ear to ear with the way his ‘Holiday’ is going. As for Vipul Shah, the film would be his biggest earner since ‘Singh Is Kinng’.

Of course as is always the case, especially with a biggie, the landing price of the film is a matter of debate. While one waits to see how far does the film go from this point on, the fact remains that as far as the count of people watching the film is concerned, ‘Holiday’ has ensured some steady foot count for itself already, which is all set to sustain in the second week as well.

Meanwhile ‘Filmistaan’ has managed to hang on well too with around 5 crore coming in its first week. This is good for a film where the opening day was just around 50 lakh. If not for the ‘Holiday’ wave, the film could have perhaps done better. However, there is good competition in every week starting now and one just hopes that this Sharib Hashmi starrer manages to find its place under the sun with sustained shows in weeks to come as well.
