Three weeks after NH10, a major release hits the screens in the form of Detective Byomkesh Bakshy. It in fact arrives at the time when another Yash Raj film, Dum Laga Ke Haisha, is still playing at select theaters in the country. The Dibakar Banerjee directed film boasts of interesting promos, though as has been the trend with even well received movies this year, even this too would have to rely mainly on word of mouth.
Sushant Singh Rajput has managed decent fan following since Kai Po Che! but since Detective Byomkesh Bakshy too is releasing as a niche affair, the opening would be primarily in 30%-40% range. It has potential to grow further though since it is a solo Hindi arrival and audience has been waiting for an entertaining flick for quite some time.
However, there would be challenge galore from Furious 7 which is the biggest international film to arrive in 2015. The action flick has a huge fan following in India and hence it won’t be surprising if its collections at an all-India level are even double of Detective Byomkesh Bakshy on not just the first day but even over the weekend. This one is going to be huge for sure and anything over 50% is a certainty.
