After a decent weekend, ‘Main Tera Hero’ hung on well during the weekdays to earn a healthy first week total in the range of 37-38 crore. These are good numbers for a film which has a one film hero Varun Dhawan and good credit goes to David Dhawan’s fan following and Ekta Kapoor’s marketing and promotion that did the trick. Of course the film would have easily topped the 40 crore if not for two important cricket matches on Friday and Sunday. However, that’s the choice that was made by the makers for the film’s release and with good footfalls coming in eventually, all is settled.
Since the film makes for a family viewing, it is pretty much expected that the second week would see good audience coming in, as a result of which 50 crore lifetime is pretty much in reach. For Varun Dhawan, it is indeed a big high as this is his first solo starrer. Ileana D’Souza too can shrug away the disappointment of ‘Phata Poster Nikhla Hero’ with Shahid Kapoor and can now look forward to ‘Happy Ending’ with Saif Ali Khan. As for Nargis Fakhri, she now has two back to back successes in the form of ‘Madras Cafe’ and ‘Main Tera Hero’, both of which are as different from each other as chalk and cheese.
Another release of the week, ‘Jal’, was an outright disaster and with critical acclaim missing too, there was no hope whatsoever. The film has wrapped up under the 1 crore mark.
