Box Office: Miserable week for Bollywood as IIP, HHRCK go down

Preity Zinta’s ‘Ishkq In Paris’ has turned out to be a colossal disaster. If the opening was extremely poor and there was no escalation over the weekend, what shocked further was to see further slide in (already) low collections over the weekdays. With rapid decline in footfalls, this is one of those rare films with a notable lead actress to see such a poor response at the box office. This resulted in first week collections of a mere 2 crore which are so low that they would have shocked even the most pessimistic people connected to Bollywood.

Agreed that the film was delayed and there was no saleable hero either. Still, given the fact that the end product had reasonably decent credentials, one would have expected somewhat better collections for the film. Not that the eventual box office outcome would have been different in a major way but still at least respectable collections were on the cards, something which unfortunately didn’t turn out to be the case.

Fate of ‘Hum Hai Raahi CAR Ke’ was even worse as collections read just a few lakhs. This film too is a disaster and though Adah Sharma has moved on to ‘Hasee Toh Phasee’, one looks forward to the plans that debutant Dev Goel has for himself from this point on. Third Hindi release of the film, ‘Zindagi 50-50’ has died a silent death with hardly anyone mourning for it.

All in all, a miserable week for Bollywood releases.
