There were multiple films that released over the weekend gone by and out of these only three managed to get some kind of a release – Badlapur Boys, Main Aur Mr. Riight and Life Mein Twist Hai. As expected though, none of them could fetch even decent collections. While the promotion was sub-par to begin with, minimal shows further hampered the cause for these films. As a result, there were abysmal numbers all over and by the time weekend came to a close, the picture was clear on the wall, what with combined collections of these films being less than 1 crore.
For the last few weeks the scenario has been anyways bad for the exhibitors due to low footfalls and the week gone by only rubbed salt on the wounds. In comparison, cinemas down South still had a lot to cheer about due to the release of Rajinikanth’s Lingaa. With the film, Sonakshi Sinha too could smile after the disappointment of Action Jackson.
However, in totality, the situation has been pretty bleak for Bollywood towards the end of the year and one just hopes that PK and then films to follow in 2015 reverse the trend.
