Box Office Smash-Hit Housefull 2 Marks Akshay Kumar’s Biggest Film Opener to Date

Housefull 2: The Dirty Dozen has become Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar’s biggest film opener to date globally, generating just under a staggering £500,000 at the UK box office alone when it released in the UK on 5th April 2012. The film is already the second highest opener in India this year.

An excited Sajid Khan who directed the film tweeted to his fans: “All screens are going Housefull. I attribute a major part of its success to Akshay. He has been a superstar for the last eight years or so and will be one for many more years to go. The best thing about the film is that Akshay’s work has been appreciated and this film is Akshay’s biggest hit overseas.”

Sealing his reputation as the true king of comedy, Housefull 2 – The Dirty Dozen is a classic family film, with something to entertain all ages, with its blend of quirky comedy, hilarious mix-ups and some seriously hardcore action sequences. Housefull 2 sees the ever-versatile and talented Akshay Kumar alongside a medley of stars including his leading lady in the film Asin who performs the role of the vibrant ‘Sandy Henna’, the sultry Jacqueline Fernandez, comedy king-pin Riteish Deshmukh, and John Abraham in a role as you’ve never seen him before! Bollywood item queen Malaika Arora Khan brings the house down with a smoldering song performance – ‘Anarkali Disco Chali ­. The all-star film also features a bevy of uber famous names of yesteryear, including legendary brothers Rishi and Randhir Kapoor, Boman Irani, Johnny Lever and the dancing genius of ace groover Mithun Chakraborty.

2012 will be the year of the Kumar, as celluloid superstar Akshay is set to top box office ratings once again with a string of hit films, starting with Housefull 2, and other starrers such as Rowdy Rathore, Joker, Khiladi 786, Special Chabbis and Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai 2.
