Getting ready for it’s theatrical release worldwide this week Gurinder Chadha’s Blinded By The Light has gotten some early rave reviews! Set set in 1987, during the austere days of Thatcher’s Britain. The film is a joyous, coming-of-age story about a British Asian teenager who learns to live life, understand his family and find his own voice through the words and music of Bruce Springsteen. The film is inspired by British journalist Sarfraz Manzoor’s memoir, “Greetings From Bury Park”.
The US premiere had a very special guest. Bruce Springsteen hit the red carpet of Blinded By The Light on Tuesday 7th August in his hometown of Asbury Park, New Jersey. The rock legend attended with his wife, Patti Scialfa, alongside director, Gurinder Chadha, Sarfraz Manzoor, Viveik Kalra, Aaron Phagura and British Asian actress, Jameela Jalil. The premiere was held at the Paramount Theatre on the city’s boardwalk.
Springsteen later performed four songs at Asbury’s Convention Hall at the official afterparty.
