Celina Jaitley had a lucky escape recently when shooting. “I escaped severe injuries from falling into shallow rocky seas from a great height,” she explained, “Whilst shooting a scene, the camera buggy was supposed to go past me while I was standing near an outcrop. But it swung out of control and I toppled, barely managing to grab a buggy rung. I lost my grip on that too but the camera assistant Ram Gopal Mishra grabbed me and saved me.”

The actress is busy shooting the Kannada movie Shrimathi and is full of praise for her co-star Upendra. “I’ve never seen an actor like him. I think he’s one of the hottest actors in the south and look how well he’s kept himself!” she exclaimed. Commenting on the script, she added, “That’s why I took it up. It will be a trend-setter in south Indian cinema.”

Partially a remake of the Akshay-Kareena-Priyanka movie Aitraaz, Shrimathi sees Celina playing the role of a woman who likes to get what she wants. The director wanted to make sure Celina had the right look for the movie so sent her designer shopping all over the world to get it. “My designer wanted me to have the looks of glamorous heroines like Parveen Babi and Zeenat Aman – they were the style icons of the Hindi film industry in the 1980s,” Celina explained, “So all my costumes were purchased from Bangkok and Paris.”
