She stood her ground opposite ‘the’ Amitabh Bachchan in the surprise entertainer of the year Bbuddah Hoga Tera Baap and now is gearing up for her second inning in Hindi cinema. Yes Charme Kaur is returning to the Hindi screens but not without a bit of controversy surrounding her.

Almost immediately after the announcement of her Hindi project Zilla Ghaziabad news came that she was dropped from the project as her co-star Vivek Oberoi wasn’t happy with her casting. However now we know that it was nothing but the rumour mills working its extra creative charm. “Nothing of that sort happened. I had read the script, but couldn’t sign up for the project as I was in Hyderabad at the time. I later flew down to Mumbai for the costume trial and signed on the dotted line. When I heard all the reports, I was like, ‘Welcome to Bollywood, Charmme.’ But at the end of the day, I thought, ‘Publicity is publicity – good or bad.’ In fact, Vivek and I were laughing about these rumours. We have almost wrapped up the shoot of the film and post-production is on in full swing,” said the actress to TOI quite casually and absolutely un-frazzled by the rather rude welcome to Hindi cinema courtesy of the media.

But that wasn’t the end of the rumours about Zilla Ghaziabad and Charme’s involvement. Apparently her co-star Minissha Lamba also didn’t take to her casting very enthusiastically however like the Vivek Oberoi stories this too was a figment of the media’s imagination says Charme, “She is not the director of the film. It’s the director who decides everything. I’ve been embroiled in controversy for quite some time and I’ve reached a stage where I only laugh about it. If people want to talk about me, that means I’m a big star.”

Zilla Ghaziabad is an action thriller being directed by Anand Kumar (Delhi Heights) and produced by Vinod Bachchan (Tanu Weds Manu). The film is a multi starrer that also stars Sanjay Dutt, Vivek Oberoi, Arshad Warsi, Minisha Lamba and Geeta Basra alongside Charme. Action has been directed by South’s famous actor master Kanal Kannan of Ghajini  fame.
