Here at Bollyspice, we like to shine the light on not only Bollywood, but also other fabulous content outside the world of Hindi films including movies, cool music and songs we come across! You probably know the fab Bollywood journalist and interviewer Faridoon Shahryar, but did you also know he was a singer? Yes, he is a formally trained singer in Hindustani Classical music and in his singing avatar; Mr. Shahryar has recently released the wonderful ‘Palkon Ko Bhigoyen Kaise’ with music by Navneet Kedar.
Talking to us about his music, Mr. Shahryar says, “Palkon Ko Bhigoyen Kaise is the name of my Ghazal Rock album launched by premiere online music portal artistaloud.com. It comprises of five songs.”
One of the coolest things is that that lyrics are ghazals and poems that have been written by his late father Professor Shahryar, winner of the highest literary honour in India the Jnanpith Award and the lyricist of actress Rekha’s magnum opus Umrao Jaan.
He most recently released the video for the gorgeous title track ‘Palkon Ko Bhigoyen Kaise’
Directed by his wife Aarefa Faridoon, the video for ‘Palkon Ko Bhigoyen Kaise’ was shot in several locations including Tokyo, Sarawak (Malaysia) and Mumbai.
The response to the music and his singing has been fabulous. Not only have music fans loved this song, but also noted critics and stars have messaged Mr. Shahryar about ‘Palkon Ko Bhigoyen Kaise’ including Bollywood celebrities like Mahesh Bhatt, Anupam Kher, Pooja Bhatt, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Sonal Chauhan, Geeta Basra, Richa Chadda, who have appreciated the music, singing and video.
