We have a look at the new romantic comedy Bareilly Ki Barfi. Set in the small town of Bareilly, the story revolves around two men, played by Ayushmann Khurana and Rajkumar Rao vying for one woman’s attention, played by Kriti Sanon.
Kriti plays Bitti, a free-spirited small-town girl, in search of someone who would love her for the way she is. Then enters Chirag Dubey (Ayushmann) who falls in love with Bitti and in order to win her heart introduces her to Pritam (Rajkummar). With some hilarious confusion, mistakes and comic heartbreaks, the film seems to be setting up a like a joy ride for the audience.
Directed by Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari, the film also marks the debut of the grandson of filmmaker B R Chopra, Juno Chopra as a producer.
Amongst the cluster of homes in Bareilly resides the amusing Mishra family. The only ‘life loving’ daughter of theirs, Bitti Mishra (Kriti Sanon) works at the electricity board, is a casual smoker, watches English movies and loves breakdance. Bitti’s free-spiritedness does not translate in finding a suitable groom and so she concludes to be a misfit in this small town. The complexities of getting married and feeling pressured, impulsive Bitti decided to run away from home. At the railway book stall Bitti finds a book called ‘Bareilly Ki Barfi’. Surprisingly the female protagonist of the novel reads exactly like her. Is there someone like her too in this closeted town or someone who really knows and understands her? Dropping the idea of running away Bitti goes on a search to find the author Pritam Vidrohi (Rajkuma Rao) with the help of the printing press owner and publisher of the novel Chirag Dubey (Ayushmann Khurana).
