After a remarkable three-year gap from the industry, Chitrangada Singh is leaving no stone unturned in establishing her credentials as a serious actress. Incarnated as the new Chandramukhi in Sudhir Mishra’s Aur Devdas, a role she is likely to make her own. She was previously see in Onir’s Sorry Bhai and will appear opposite Saif Ali Khan in the appropriately titled, The Nawab, The Nautch Girl & the Johns Company.

She credits her sudden burst of activity to her permanent move from Delhi to Mumbai. She is currently gearing up for her performance opposite Abhay Deol in the action movie Basra. “Now that I’ve permanently moved to Mumbai, producers have begun to take me more seriously,” she explains, “Earlier, they weren’t too sure whether or not I was serious about my career as I used to shuttle between Mumbai and Delhi.”

Chitrangada, who recently walked the ramp in a luxurious rainbow-coloured sari for designer Ritu Kumar in New Delhi, is also enthusing about her casting opposite Irrfan Khan in 2 Days, 2 Nights and a Morning. “I play a girl with grey shades,” she says, “And I’m looking forward to shooting with Irrfan.”
