Close on the heels of the stupendous success of Sridevi’s comeback film English Vinglish in Hong Kong and Germany, Eros International is all set to release the blockbuster in Japan, South Korea and Taiwan.
The team is elated with the grand release of the film in these markets, especially South Korea where the film will release in over 100 screens, one of the biggest releases for an Indian film in the region.
It’s double celebration for director Gauri Shinde, who has also received a special invite to attend the prestigious Japanese festival Aichi International Women’s festival, dedicated to advancement of women in society. Ms. Shinde will be visiting Japan for the festival at the end of August and will also interact with the press for the promotion of her film.
“English Vinglish is a universal story, nearly a year after its release, the film continues to enamor people across the world. A lot of people living abroad in an English speaking world are trying hard to learn English to be accepted by their society. With newer markets opening for the film consistently, we see resonance with global audiences for the film”, says Kumar Ahuja, President, Business Development, Eros International. “In these territories, especially South Korean audiences love Indian ethos and drama. We therefore expect the film to do good business in these territories.”
This apart, Eros will also release other hits like Dabaang, Student of the Year, Agent Vinod and Chalo Dilli in the Japanese market very soon.
