After winning our hearts in last year’s Taare Zameen Par, Darsheel Safary has finally signed his second film with Percept Picture Company, to be directed by Priyadarshan. The film will be a re-make of the Iranian film Children of Heaven which centres around the adventures of two children named Ali and Zahra. The film will begin filming this September and is looking forward to a March 2009 release.
Yet again, Darsheel will be playing the main character. An executive from PPC, Shailendra Singh, confirmed Darsheel’s involvement in the film to Mumbai Mirror and added that it will be his second film to hit theatres. He admits that getting Darsheel to sign the film was very hard until they showed him the original film Children of Heaven, after which he was on board.
Currently, the production company is looking for a little girl to play the role of Zahra. It seems slightly odd that Priyadarshan, who is known for making comedies, will be directing this film with two children as the main characters. Singh says, “[But] didn’t Priyadarshan make Viraasat which was a superb film? He is an accomplished director.”
