Who hasn’t seen the story of Raj and Simran? Fourteen years after debutant director Aditya Chopra’s first release Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge has continued its successful run at the box office by crossing a record breaking 700-week mark.

The Shah Rukh Khan-Kajol starrer, which has already broken the record previously held by Sholay to become the longest running film in 2007, has been playing continuously for 700 weeks at Mumbai’s Maratha Mandir theatre.

The film which starred Shah Rukh and Kajol as a lead pair after their initial pairing in Baazigar was a story that featured Indians living abroad for the first time in a mainstream Hindi film. A romantic drama with Bollywood elements, it was an astounding success and is deemed one of the best romantic films made by the Hindi film industry.

The film won 10 Filmfare Awards, including Best Actor and Best Actress for Shah Rukh and Kajol.
