Bollywood superstar and all-rounder Akshay Kumar is humbled and thrilled at the request for a copy of the smash hit comedy release of 2009, De Dana Dan, from the Library of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
This could be the second such honour for Akshay as the script for Namastey London is already a part of the Library archives. It means that students, filmmakers, writers and actors will have access to the scripts for research purposes. It’s another huge accomplishment for the entire Bollywood film industry and demonstrates its global reach and success.
De Dana Dan united the infamous Hera Pheri gang once more, teaming up directing talent Priyadarshan with Master of Comedy, Akshay. The film tells the story of two friends, struggling to make ends meet but dreaming of riches and facing ultimatums from their girlfriends to earn as much money as they can in return for their hands in marriage, causing them to go to extreme lengths to fulfill their respective love’s wishes. A backfired kidnapping, mistaken identities, a hired assassin and an assortment of characters met along the way ranging from a Chinese don to a young, frustrated wife made De Dana Dan one of 2009’s most popular Bollywood entertainers.
