15feb_piku2Filmmaker Shoojit Sircar is keeping a secret Piku camera diary! The family comedy drama that brings together Amitabh, Deepika and Irrfan for the first time is in the news after Big B revealed that he shot for a ‘hilarious promotional campaign’ of the film, and now Shoojit Sircar has revealed another secret. He says, “I have the first day’s shooting and other important happenings on sets on camera”. Talking about the first day of the shoot he adds, “The first day of shooting was magical. India’s greatest star-actor with our most internationally celebrated actor, together with the actress who’s at the moment doing her best work…I felt blessed.”

On the reason behind choosing Deepika for Piku‘s role Shoojit says,” At the time of casting I instinctively knew Deepika was the right choice to play Amitji’s daughter. My hunch was right. She actually looks and feels like his daughter”.

He also admits that he was completely impressed by her dedication to her role and added, “She surrendered completely to the role. We completed Piku in record time as we had bulk dates of three of the busiest actors of the country.”

Shoojit also revealed that by the end of the shoot, the entire cast had bonded and was like family. He spoke further about the experience of working with three big actors, each acclaimed for their work and about how they all bonded effortlessly.

He explained, “We were all new to one another, specially, Irrfan Khan. He was working for the first time with Amitji, Deepika and me. All three main actors spent time gauging their own characters and that of the other two. Very soon they felt like a family.”

The Vicky Donor director, who is known for the quirky take in his movies said, “It’s a film filled with sunshine. I am sure the audience is wondering what I am up to. Doing the unexpected comes naturally to me. That’s what I did with Vicky Donor. I can’t be repetitive. Piku is a quirky comedy, the kind that will bring sunshine to the audiences’ heart.”

On that note, we say Piku come shine on us!
