Deepika Padukone’s debut performance in Om Shanti Om has garnered her many accolades from audiences and critics. She has also all ready won several awards and now has been honored with a nomination for Best Actress at the Second Asian Film Awards.
Deepika will be going up against some of the best actresses from China, Hong Kong, and Korea. The other nominees are Joan Chen of China (The Home Song Stories), Jeon Do-yeon of South Korea (Secret Sunshine), Kirin Kiki (Tokyo Tower: Mom and Me, and Sometimes Dad), Kim Yun-jin of Korea (Seven Days) and Tang Wei of Hong Kong (Lust, Caution).
This is the second year the awards ceremony has been held at the Hong Kong International Film Festival and Wilfred Wong, chairman of the Hong Kong International Film Festival Society said, “AFA’s inaugural event last year showed there was tremendous international interest in the celebration of the Asian cinema. Building on that momentum, this year’s event promises to be even bigger and better, especially with participation of major creative forces and stars from internationally acclaimed and high-profile films.”
The blockbuster Om Shanti Om also received nominations for Vishal Dadlani, Shekhar Ravjiani, and Pyarelal Ramprasad Sharma in the Best Composer Category.
The awards will be given out at a dazzling ceremony on March 17th.
