Bollywood star Deepika Padukone will be the face of the Bangaluru (Bangalore) Marathon this year. She will flag off the marathon on May 18th and – being descended from a sporty family – will also participate in it. “It will be nice to get people together to run and help the various causes associated with the marathon,” she says.
“I am going down to Bangalore next week to announce and promote the marathon,” she added, “I have always had a sports connection with the city in lots of ways since childhood and Bangalore is my home city. Also I have always promoted fitness and health.”
Deepika start shooting her new film Karthik Calling Karthik with Farhan Akhtar in the city next month. “I start shooting for Karthik Calling Karthik on 4 April,” she explains, “However the first schedule starts on 1 April, but I think I may be the only one landing up on the sets and this will be a smart way to play an April Fool’s prank on me. But my scenes are scheduled on 4 April.”
Unlike the normal pattern in Bollywood, Deepika likes to focus on one movie at a time. After KCK, her next movie will be Housefull, a romantic comedy with Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh and Jiah Khan. She is also signed up to Saif Ali Khan‘s Love Aaj Kal with Saif, Rahul Khanna and British-based actresses Elizabeth Tan and Fagun Thakrar. Fagun is the winner BBC’s Bolly Idol competition.
