13aug_Deepika-SuccessDeepika Padukone, who is flying high after registering a series of blockbusters like Cocktail, Race 2 and Yeh Jawaani hai Deewani has been busy promoting her forthcoming film Chennai Express which is set to release on August 9, 2013. The leggy lass is cast opposite the Baadshah of Bollywood Shahrukh Khan for second time, post her debut film Om Shanti Om in 2007. The Srk-Deepika movie has all the ingredients to make it to the blockbuster list keeping in mind the director of the movie – Rohit Shetty and the movie being a solo release on the eve of Eid.

Deepika’s last film Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani opposite her ex-beau Ranbir Kapoor was a humongous hit making it the third highest grossing film of the bollywood in India and worldwide thus setting a new benchmark for the actress. The movie kept the charts rolling and marked Deepika’s entry into the 100 crores club.

The 27 year old actress has come a long way since her modeling days, followed by a debut in 2007. Like many other actors, Deepika too had her share of ups and downs, but she waged through them only to emerge today as one of the top Bollywood actresses of recent times. Her performances in movies like Cocktail, Race 2 and Aarakshan have been well appreciated by the critics and other Bollywood personalities. Taran Adarsh, film critic and a trade analyst once quoted, “Deepika has all it takes to be a top star — the personality, the looks and yes, (she) is supremely talented too. Standing in the same frame as SRK and getting it right is no small achievement. She comes as a whiff of fresh air!”

“Yes, you do celebrate it for a while but then move on. Of course, I have worked hard to get where I am. It hasn’t happened by chance”, said the elated actress to TOI when quizzed about her Bollywood journey. Deepika has also been shooting for her upcoming movie Ram Leela, opposite her rumored love interest Ranveer Singh, which is lined up for a release in November 2013.
