When it comes to superstitions, B-town is no different from the average aam janta, especially when it comes to making it big. One superstition that most actresses follow is acting in a South Indian film during the course of their career. While there have been a few exceptions, right from Aishwarya Rai to Deepika Padukone, a film or two has proven to be a good luck charm for B-town actresses. The latest to join the bandwagon is 2008 Rock On newcomer Prachi Desai. The petite actress, who made her mark amongst the powerhouse performers in Rock On, has signed her first Tamil film opposite Arun Vijay, a role that is reported to have gotten her a 1.5cr cheque. Yet she maintains a professional stance and cites media etiquette.
Prachi has had a rough patch with few offers since her last film, Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai. Yet she remains optimistic and patient, and the wait seems to have paid off with the Tamil film Thadaiyara Thaakka. But the actress has another film in her kitty that she is tight-lipped about opposite John Abraham. “People think I am this serious girl because of the kind of roles I have played. But this one is the exact opposite of what has been perceived of me so far.” says Ms Desai when speaking to Hindustan Times. She continues “I am finally playing a character that is 22 years old, when I am actually 22 years old.”
