Heart A Cause kicked off New York Fashion Week, with their annual fundraiser, bringing fashion, music, art and together at the Millesime at the Carlton Hotel in NYC. Heart A Cause 2014 nominated GiGi’s Playhouse New York as its dedicated cause, raising awareness and funds for Down syndrome. The unique event housed Fashion Presentations by mulitple emerging brands including Nikitta by Nikita Varma, featuring the Miss United States Titleholders as live mannequins.

Nikita Varma’s luxury pret womenswear label NIKITTA exudes glamour, luxury, chic and femininity in each of its creations. From dazzling cocktail dresses to flowing evening gowns, the label strives to harmonize art and fashion in an intriguing balance. NIKITTA has been an official clothing sponsor for the Miss New York Organization. Her designs have been seen on a bevy of beauty queens including the reigning Miss America, Miss United States 2013 and Miss New York 2013. Nikita, a designer of Indian origin and a graduate from the Parsons School of design, has previously showcased her collections in a prominent Indian Fashion Week in 2012 and in New York in 2013. Her label retails in luxury multi-designer stores in India and is emerging in New York. Besides her ready to wear label, Nikita also designs customized and bespoke pieces on order. Every NIKITTA creation embodies fashion and art in a harmonious combination and balance, to bring forth modern and innovative designs. The label emphasizes on perfect fit, impeccable construction and finish of garments.
At the Heart A Cause fundraiser, Nikita showcased ‘Luxurious Seascapes’ – A Spring/summer collection of evening gowns and cocktail dresses inspired by the breeziness of seaside. Hand-painted patterns and dégrade’ hues come from the unique natural patterns found in sea foams, sand and sandstone formations. Silks in chiffon, georgette, satin and taffeta have been enhanced with exquisite hand painting to create beautiful patterns and ombre’ surface designs on fabrics.
“It was a great honor to be a part of the Heart A Cause NYFW Benefit event and work with the Miss United States Organization and show my collection with the current titleholders wearing my designs. It was also a great opportunity to contribute and help in raising awareness and funds for Down Syndrome and support all the good work being done by Gigi’s Playhouse. This event truly brought together beauty, fashion, art and charity in a unique way” said Designer Nikita Varma.
