The iconic Howrah Bridge in Kolkata was commissioned 72 years ago on Feb 3, and on the occasion of its birth anniversary, a unique tribute was given by a flash mob act put together by 50 dancers. This also was a unique song launch event for a film for the first time ever. The first song from Detective Byomkesh Bakshy! ‘Calcutta Kiss’ was played in the background, as the dancers, dressed in ethnic wear danced to the song’s peppy beats.
Commissioned in 1943, the Howrah Bridge was a replacement of the pontoon bridge linking Kolkata and Howrah, over the river Hooghly. It was the fourth longest cantilever suspension bridge in the world at the time. The national monument is important for the film because Detective Byomkesh Bakshy! is set in the year 1943 when the world was engulfed in World War II.
‘Calcutta Kiss’ has been sung by Imaad Shah, Saba Azad with music and lyrics by Madboy/Mink.
