Dia Mirza is not feeling bitter about the lack of success of Acid Factory, a film on which she’d pinned a lot of hopes – it’s the type of all-action movie that’s likely to do better on DVD and downloads anyway. She’s already looking forward to Kurbaan with Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor, due to be released on November 20th. “Kurbaan is going to be one of the best movies made so far and I am so proud that I am in it,” she says, “It’s a special appearance for me.” Dia plays the part of Ritu in the movie about global terrorism.
Dia, who recently expressed an interest in kidnapping Brad Pitt, is kidnapped herself in the unusual comedy Fruit’n’Nut in which she appears as the glamorous secretary Monica who is kidnapped by an evil Boman Irani as a megalomaniac bent on (a) destroying Mumbai so he can reclaim his ancestral home and (b) apparently creating a harem for himself. The whole thing is probably best forgotten on both counts, although Dia does manage to look stunning as usual.
She’s also lined up for an appearance in Johnny Mastana which also features Amitabh Bachchan on a journey of self-discovery as a man in his sixties. It recently wrapped up filming. “Johnny Mastana is a wholesome experience,” says Dia, “It’s not only about Amitji but he is so good,” she confirms.
