This weekend Disney’s The Jungle Book has proved who is the real “jungle VIP” by debuting at number one at the UK box office with an estimated £9.5 million opening weekend. The ‘baloo-ming’ marvellous result sees the film become the third biggest opening this year following only Batman vs Superman and Deadpool with critics calling the film out as a cinematic experience not to be missed. The result also sees Disney take both 1st and 2nd place at the UK box office with Disney’sZootropolis still delighting audiences.
Jungle Fever has been taking the world by storm. In India the film has already overtaken the entire lifetime of Titanic and Life of Pi within just one week and is the third biggest Hollywood release ever, only behind Furious 7 and Jurassic World.
Meanwhile in the US an estimated $103.6 million box office takings were registered, making it the second largest April opening in industry history. Globally the film currently stands at $240 million.
