Yes, folks. They are coming back. After the successful 2007 film Partner, the Salman Khan-Govinda-David Dhawan trio are all set to tickle your funny bone again with its sequel Partner 2. Written by Maan Gaye Mughal-e-Azam director-writer, Sanjay Chhel, the film was initially slated for a release this year but was delayed for varying reasons. While Sohail Khan, producer of the both parts maintained “After Main Aurr Mrs Khanna, I have plans to launch Partner 2” back in October last year, the film did not go as planned.

Sequels are becoming more frequent, with 2008 seeing sequels to Sarkar and Golmaal as Sarkar Raj and Golmaal Returns. Partner was one of the biggest hits from Sohail Khan Productions in 2007 and a sequel was expected to start late 2009, releasing Diwali this year, but it struggled to get past conception and for more than one reason. On one side was David shifting his focus from Partner 2 to Hook Ya Crook, starring John Abraham and so Salman went to work Dabangg.

On the other side, Govinda was upset with Salman as he asked him to help with his daughter Narmada’s launch into films but Salman, after showing keen interest in Narmada’s grooming initially, went on to promote Sonakshi Sinha instead, and giving her a plum role of his ladylove in Dabanng. Apparently it upset Govinda further when Salman showed no interest in his request to do something similar for Narmada. Sources told the Deccan Chronicle earlier this month, “Salman himself has announced his next set of films which include a film with Sajid Nadiadwala titled Kick and a film with Shirish Kunder and Prem Soni. However, there is no mention of Partner 2 anymore.” This only added to the already raging rumour blaze of a tiff as there were also talks of Salman refusing to work on Kick if David was the director in retaliation to the delay caused by David.

But question David about it and he’s quick to refute, saying, “Bakwaas. I have just come out from Salman’s house. Right now, Salman will be working on Bigg Boss 4. Then, he has Bodyguard. And only after that Partner 2 will start, sometime next year.” With Salman riding on the success waves of Dabangg, David’s Hook Ya Crook in the final stages of production and Govinda in desperate need of a career boost poor shows from Do Knot Disturb and Raavan, Partner 2 will be coming at the right time for all.
