Dosar and Mithya invited to Cannes

Dosar, directed by Rituparno Ghosh, following its wins at several film festivals has been invited to The Cannes International Film Festival. Dosar (The Companion) is a poignant film that deals with the subject of infidelity and is filmed in black and white.

The film starring Konkona Sen Sharma and Prosenjit Chatterjee is from Planman Motion Pictures. To represent Dosar, Cannes invited Director Rituparno Ghosh, Producer Arindam Chaudhuri and CEO – Planman Motion Pictures Shubho Shekhar Bhattacharjee.

At Cannes, the Tous Le Cinemas du Monde is a program according to the Cannes website which is “dedicated to the presentation, by countries invited by the Festival, of a wide spectrum of their cinematic creation. As a sidebar to the Official Selection, this programme enables audiences to discover more amply the vast diversity of national film industries.” It is at this session that Dosar will be screened.

India is going to be well represented this year at Tous Le Cinemas du Monde along with Dosar, Lage Raho Munnabhai, Guru and Mithya also had the honor of being invited.

However, Mithya, directed by Rajat Kapoor, is in the last stages of production and it was decided not to send an unfinished version to Cannes. Mithya is a story of the underworld is also a Planman Motion Pictures production and it is ambitious directorial undertaking.
