Whoever said that star kids have it easy clearly didn’t have Esha Deol in mind who, despite being the daughter of Dharmendra and Hema Malini, has yet to strike gold at the box office, with the critics and even with the audiences. Even with her sexy makeover in Dhoom her luck didn’t change, and for quite some time now we’ve heard absolutely nothing from the young artist, but at last we see her connecting with the media and the audience with some interesting thoughts.
The first of them is her take on her ideal relationships. The youngest Deol hopes to be in a live-in relationship with her partner for at least 2 years before tying the knot and her mom is quite supportive of this decision.
Media hubs have been busy creating news in her disappearance and released several reports stating various reasons for it, none of which turned out to be true. Some wrote that she’d been entering a rehab facility in US and others said she was in hiding due to lack of projects, but her personal trainer Satyajit Chaursia (also Aamir Khan’s trainer) denied the rumors and clarified the issue stating that she’s been to the US for a personal visit and no she had no lack of projects as she had recently signed quite a few films. “It is true, she is visiting me regularly. She has signed a couple of new films and is single-mindedly training very hard for them. She is insisting on doing a lot of stomach exercises. She has always had a great body and she is basically looking to maintain it. She comes to me five times a week and I don’t really know about these rumours of her being in hiding. Over these past six months too she has been quite frequent at my gym.”
Also new in Esha’s life is a brand new friend in the form of Chandan Roy Sanyal, her co-star from her upcoming project Tell Me Oh Khuda whom we last saw as Mikhail in Kaminey. Speaking about his experience with Esha he says, “We get along fabulously and I think Esha is my new best friend. Just like Shahid and I got along well on the sets of Kaminey and that reflected in the camaraderie between Charlie and Mikhail on screen, the real-life camaraderie between Esha, Arjan and me will reflect on screen. I think it is important to grow with your co-stars and characters. Everyday after pack-up, Esha and I sit and chat about life, movies, friends, anything and everything. She is a lovely human being and a great actress. I hope the movie does well and gives her the success she deserves.”
Tell Me Oh Khuda is said to be Hema Malini’s home production and some say maybe a relaunch vehicle for Esha. The film stars Arjan Bajwa (Fashion and soon to be seen in Hide & Seek) as well as Chandan and Esha. The story is said to revolve around three friends and their journey together in Turkey, Rajhastan and the beaches of Goa. Comedy is said to be the genre of the film and it is deemed to be quite a rib tickling adventure. Hema Malini, Vinod Khanna and Madhoo also will be seen in important roles. Mayur Puri, associate director of Dhoom, will be directing the project and music will be scored by Pritam. Initially rumor had it that the film was a remake of Mamma Mia, however the story narrated by Chandan in several interviews has made it quite obvious that it is not. Whether it will have some similarities with the Broadway musical and hit film will be something we’ll just have to wait and see.
As of now, at least we know that Esha hasn’t ditched the filmi scene and indeed is around and plans to grace the screen in 2010 for sure. She’ll be seen in Exchange Offer with Rahul Bose and Naseerudinshah, Kaach the Broken Glass with Shilpa Shetty and Milind Soman, Ishaan with Shreyas Talpade (to be directed by Blue director Anthony D’Souza) and also in Kalpana Lajmi’s next.
