An Uttar Pradesh girl who went on to do her Engineering in Computer Science, followed it up with post graduation in Management, worked in a leading international bank as an Investment advisor and eventually won Miss India crown for herself in 2012, Prachi Mishra has had an eventful journey so far from academics to the world of glamour. Well, this isn’t where she is stopping as Prachi is now making her Bollywood sojourn with Japinder Kaur Baweja directed Dilliwaali Zaalim Girlfriend, where she is paired opposite Divyendu Sharma (of Pyaar Ka Punchnama and Chashme Baddoor fame).
From academics to glamour, how has the journey been?
It was a very gradual shift and everything just worked for me, be it Engineering, Masters or Miss India. Then when movies happened, it was like a 360 degree shift for me. Am I happy? Oh yes, I am very happy about it. Of course these kind of things cannot happen overnight. I did have an eye on the glamour world since childhood when I used to put on make-up and give interviews in front of the mirror. On growing up further, I used to participate in fashion shows and cultural events. Then when this opportunity came for Miss U.P., I won. This is when the whole journey began and I haven’t looked back ever since.
You happy with Dilliwaali Zaalim Girlfriend as your launch pad?
This is a very good launch. I will tell you something, when people ask me why I have done this movie then I tell them that until and unless there is a Yash Raj Films or a Dharma to launch you, this one is quite good in itself. Look at it this way. I am playing the title role of this ‘zaalim girlfriend’, I have songs with Honey Singh, Jazzy B, Dr. Zeus and Arijit Singh. For a newcomer, this is wonderful enough; that is a great thing. In my head I am very clear that the film is going to fetch me a lot of good visibility. Rest all is in God’s hand.
