Rakeysh Mehra’s Bhaag Milkha Bhaag is now only days away from release! Being released on the 12th of July, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag is based on the legendary athlete Milkha Singh. Milkha Singh is known as ‘The Flying Sikh’. Singh has won 77 of the 80 races he competed in and has been awarded the Padma Shri award. He first competed on an Olympic level in Melbourne, 1956 and then went on to compete in the 1960 Summer Olympics (Rome) and 1964 Summer Olympics (Tokyo).
Bhaag Milkha Bhaag tells the story of this extraordinary sports champion. Not just his achievements but his life and his courage. After having lost his family to the Partition riots of 1947 India, Singh persevered to become a sporting hero.
Farhan Akhtar plays the lead as Milkha Singh in the film alongside a cast comprising of Sonam Kapoor, Art Malik, Yograj Singh and Divya Dutta. Farhan spoke to BollySpice on his experience of playing a real life character as opposed to a fictional character; how he sees Bhaag Milkha Bhaag as a film maker; his opinion on sporting films; what he loves about London and his future plans.
