2015 may not have started off on a good note for Fox, what with Bombay Velvet turning out to be the biggest disaster of all times. Their association with Bhatts didn’t pay much dividends either with Hamaari Adhuri Kahaani, Mr. X and Khamoshiyaan not quite raking in numbers that were expected out of them. However, a good opening for Brothers has brought back excitement all over again for the corporate house.
With 15.2 crore on the opening day, Brothers is their biggest success story of the year which has quite a few other films lined up in months to come.
First to arrive would be Shandaar which has Dharma Productions and Phantom Productions. In a strategic partnership with the production houses, Fox is pitching the film to the youngsters and family audiences alike, which are in lookout for wholesome entertainment. Since the film has a hot pairing of Shahid Kapoor and Alia Bhatt, and is directed by Vikas Behl (for whom this is the next outing after a one of the most loved films of 2014, Queen), Shandaar has already met with a superb reaction ever since its promo launch.
The baap of all movies would be arriving this Diwali in the form of Prem Ratan Dhan Payo. With names like Salman Khan and Sooraj Barjatya in there (who are coming together 16 years after Hum Saath Saath Hain), the film is as big as it gets. Since Salman is in a double role, Neil Nitin Mukesh is playing an antagonist and Sonam Kapoor is the leading lady, Prem Ratan Dhan Payo is super hot in the industry three months before its release on 12th November.
No wonder, those at Fox are expecting all the deficit from the first half of the year to be wiped off entirely with added profits on the way, courtesy biggies like Brothers, Shaandaar and Prem Ratan Dhan Payo on the way.
