Genelia D’Souza is flying high not only because her latest film Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na is a blockbuster but also because her work in the film is being praised. Fans and critics alike have loved her portrayal of Aditi aka Meow!
Genelia said, “I am feeling fantastic! After Jaane Tu, people have rechristened me as Meow or Aditi and that feels great. People recognize me as Aditi now! I am glad to know that the film has clicked with almost all kinds of audiences.”
The basic story of Jaane Tu is when do you know that someone you thought was just your friend is actually the one you love? Genelia said that can happen in real life not just in reel life, “If you have a close friend there is bound to be that attraction.”
For the premiere of Jaane Tu, a special bouquet she received surprised Genelia. “I was taken by surprise when I saw a beautiful bouquet waiting for me at home. It was from Mr Bachchan, with a best wishes card attached to it. He was also there at the premiere of Jaane Tu… and wished me good luck. It is a great feeling to get such encouraging compliments from a person of his stature.”
She has had a brilliantly successful career in the South film industry and now her career in Hindi films is also going really well. Up next is an Abbas Mustan film titled Life Partner and there is also a remake of her huge Telegu hit Bommarillu. Anees Bazmee is directing the Hindi version and her costar is Harman Baweja.
When asked to compare her costar Imran Khan from Jaane Tu with her new costar Harman she said smiling, “Both are extremely spontaneous actors, are intense and extremely focused on their work. They are quite similar!”
