Perky Genelia D’Souza, screen-grabbing star of Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na, has dismissed any suggestions that there is anything between her and Riteish Deshmukh. “I’m very much single,”she says. “Riteish is a friend. But that’s it. I’ve no idea where these rumours come from. We’re both very busy. I’ve done two films with Riteish – Tujhe Meri Kasam and Masti.”
Genelia says she’s started getting a lot of offers from Bollywood but is keen not to let her career in the South slide. “I’m getting a lot of calls in Mumbai. I want to balance it out. The priority would be Hindi films right now because I’ve worked a really long time in the South. However, my South Indian films are also very important. I get very satisfying roles in Tamil and Telugu.” The Boys actress has had big hits all over the place this year with Satya in Love, her Kannada debut, doing very well and also Ready setting the screens alight in Tollywood.
Genelia is currently making It’s My Life with Harman Baweja. “I’ve done the original in Telugu – Bommarillu. Then I also did the remake in Tamil. Now I’m doing it in Hindi. The Tamil and Telugu versions were similar. But the Hindi version is very different,” she explains. After that, she will be seen in Life Partner with Fardeen Khan. Finally, she will be taking on the Kareena Kapoor role in the Tollywood version of Jab We Met called Sasirekha Parinayam.
