With her fresh looks and easy smile, British-born Tamil superstar Genelia looks set to lead a new Tollywood invasion of the Bollywood heartland. Genelia D’Souza to give her the full treatment – or Cheenu to her friends – first made an impression in ‘Boys’ and then ‘Happy’ but really hit the big time with ‘Bommarillu’. She won the Filmfare Award for her role in this film.
Originally made in Telugu, it was then remade in Tamil as ‘Santosh Subramanyam’. Original male lead Siddharth was replaced by ‘Jayam’ Ravi in the Tamil version. Now, the new version has been playing so successfully across the state that a new Hindi version is being made – also starring Genelia. In the new version, Harman Baweja will be the male lead, fresh from his debut in the eagerly awaited ‘Love Story 2050’.
Is this the first time, a movie actress has made the same movie three times? We’re already looking forward to the English-language version!
