Despite several false starts, Govinda’s daughter Narmmadaa is finally preparing to make her film debut this April. Rumours of Narmmadaa’s launch are nothing new and have been making the rounds for several years now, dating all the way back to 2007 when Narmmadaa attended an IIFA function as Salman Khan’s guest, prompting ongoing speculation that the superstar, a longtime friend of the family, would play a part in her launch.
Govinda, a star well-known for his superstitious beliefs, has always been cagey about revealing the specific plans for his daughter’s film launch. However, he has now confirmed that things are definitely moving ahead and Narmmadaa will star opposite boxer Vijender Singh in a film called Manchali, directed by Lovely Singh.
“It’s an out-and-out love story. No sports at all. We waited so long for Nammo’s debut because we didn’t want her to make the wrong start. We’re convinced this is the right project for her. She will have to work hard to prove herself. I just don’t want her to struggle the way I did. I’m still struggling.”
The protective father is even willing to take a small role in the film to ensure Narmaadaa’s debut is a success. “I just want to be there for my own happiness. To watch my child finally face the camera is joyous enough. To be in the same frame as her is double joy. I couldn’t have asked for more, ” says the proud parent.
It’s rumoured Govinda will play Narmaadaa’s father in the film, which is due to begin shooting in April “in a small Indian town” according to producers.
