Govinda, one of Bollywood’s most talented actors and comedy greats, is back with a bang. He has not graced the Cineplex in a while due to his political commitments but now he is being accepted back with open arms. His first step back onto the screen was in Bhagam Bhag. Following that was his great performance in Salaam-E-Ishq, which was critically acclaimed and made many people, (including this journalist) a Chi-Chi fan!
Govinda is known as one of the most natural actors in Bollywood and it is widely acknowledged that he was one of the first who brought the comedy genre to the movies. Recently, Shah Rukh Khan at a comedy awards function, said he enjoyed watching Govinda’s films and that he was the King Of Comedy.
Govinda, who is known for his humility, said that, “I’m thankful to the Industry who have accepted me whole heartedly. Though there was a break, I understood that my natural calling is Bollywood. I was getting restless to get back where I belonged. I’m open to different kind of roles that will help me grow as an actor. Bollywood has changed so much, and so many different roles are being written. I want to explore new roles and challenges.”
National award winning director Aparna Sen is scripting a tailor made role for Govinda, and that is just one of the many roles that Govinda is being offered.
